Oח wһаt basis іѕ tһіѕ mess being blamed οח BP аחԁ tһе British іח general?
Thanks.
Okay, BP аrе tһе ones wһο wіƖƖ חοt allow һеƖр tһеrе. Holland offered skimmers, North Carolina collected material tο һеƖр сƖеаח up tһе endangered animals аחԁ wеrе refused. HеƖр іѕ חοt being rejected bу tһе U.S. BP ԁοеѕ חοt want anyone down tһеrе. I live іח North Carolina, аחԁ іt wаѕ јυѕt οח tһе news tһаt ουr һеƖр wаѕ refused bу BP. I ԁο חοt know аbουt tһе rigs. lol are you serious?

Bottom line: BP was in charge. BP is the head of the project. Haliburton and TransOcean are contractors. If I hire people to paint my house and they screw up and the fumes poison my neighbors, I’m the principal party that will be sued by the neighbors. They can include the painting contractor in their suit. I can sue the painting contractor to recoup some of my losses.
(Who’s blaming the British? I haven’t seen or heard anything about the UK being involved.)

A BP "company man" told the Halliburton rep to replace the drilling mud with seawater. About an hour-and-a-half later the well blew.
Not only does BP have contractual responsibility but the actions above, in contradiction of industry-accepted drilling practices, gives the material liability as well.

It seems to me you are right on points 1 to 4. Being British I don’t know about points 5 to 7. If BP and the British public are being blamed for the leak and the havoc it has caused, then I think you have shown very well why this is wrong and unfair.
I have just read your answers up to now. I see no mention of why outside help with the clean up operation was rejected.

Okay, BP are the ones who will not allow help there. Holland offered skimmers, North Carolina collected material to help clean up the endangered animals and were refused. Help is not being rejected by the U.S. BP does not want anyone down there. I live in North Carolina, and it was just on the news that our help was refused by BP. I do not know about the rigs. I do know about Haliburton, but BP refused the Dutch skimmers when this first started.
*BP is British Petroleum. That is the UK.

You are so right my friend but Americans need someones arse to kick so as BP stands for British Petroleum they kick us Brits. Most Americans have never even heard of Transocean.

As far as I understand it (and a would welcome any corrections):
(Watch ,Read objectionable sources of News)
1) BP only own the drilling rights.
(Transocean owned the Rig, but BP was in Total Control of everything that went on on the Rig)
2) The floating Rig which exploded was US built, owned, manned and operated, the company being Trans Ocean.
(Transocean was a subcontractor, controlled by BP)
3) The part that failed was manufactured by Haliburton another American company.
(a few Parts failed because of an explosion, we won’t know for certain, if ever)
(Haliburton is a cement company, the cement plug failed, but BP …knew….They were in total control)
4) The clean up would be much quicker IF the many offers of international assistance were accepted.
(How will you get their equipment over here, equipment that makes 4kts per hour in a 16kt current going the opposite direction)
5) Help has been rejected because of the Jones Act, a 1920′s piece of legislation passed to protect US shipping companies and the jobs of US seamen.
(that’s not the whole story)
6) This Act can be waived by Presidential Decree, this has not been forthcoming (I’ll get to the reason for that in a moment)
7) The excuse for NOT waiving the Act "no-one has asked that it should be.
On what basis is this mess being blamed on BP and the British in general?
(It’s BP’s well …when they get on the rig , they bring a blue-print of exactly what will happen for the whole operation, that comes straight from BP headquarters)
(BP was in Complete Control)

Transocean will/should take the hit for this man-caused disaster.
Their man, Jimmy Harrell, was in charge of the operation at time of the disaster. He was the one who should have shut down an unsafe operation. He didn’t.
He is alleged to have made two damning statements:
–He ‘argued’ with the "company (BP) man" about the operations and quit the discussion with the comment -That’s what we have those pinchers for … (referring, it is said, to the BOP).
–Following the event, he is alleged …According to the witness, Harrell was screaming, “Are you f**king happy? The rig’s on fire! I told you this was gonna happen.”(1)
Draw your own conclusion.
He probably would have been fired, but it sure seems like he should have ‘just said NO!’
.
BP stepped up early on, on their own, and said they would make it all better. Any responsible world-wide company would do the same. There is no reason to believe that BP won’t follow through on the commitments they have made..
I fail to see where any international assistance would be a whole lot of help up to this point. BP already has a lot of its ‘international’ people on task.
The mess is blamed on BP because their "company man" was in a hurry to get the well sealed [get that 70 million barrels of oil some years later when it's worth a lot more, eh?] and move on to the next well. He was also trying to save a little "drilling mud" for the next operation. Too bad.

I say it is BP fualt for this mess. It was BP oil rig that burst. BP is responsible for the worst oil spill in US history. About 4000 birds were found covered in oil or dead. BP is responsible for all of these birds. BP put a tighter cap on the leak and stop anymore oil from leaking. Unfortionaly the damage has been done. It is up to BP now to clean up the oil and prevent the ecosystem to spiral out of control. I don't know why the goverment has to spend our money on the spill and [...]
