Thousands of lost jobs, the rigs will move to Brazil and other off shore friendly places, employing foreigners. Then we will pay an inflated price for the oil, driving up profits for the oil companies including foreign oil non US friendly nations. The Economy can not sustain itself now, so it will drop into a deeper recession, spending will have to be cut with the lost revenue, shutting down federal programs that help the poor, budgets will have to be cut across the board, and interest rates and inflation will go to double digits. Until the oil companies can submit an actual plan (not for Walruses) that doesn’t use 30 year old technology for clean up, and can clean up from a mile deep he should not lift it.
The Ban was put in place by George Bush’s father after another massive oil spill in the gulf, where it stayed until 2008. What did you do until then. You were not complaining about jobs.
BP just destroyed the Southeastern coast of the United States by it’s greed, making decisions that insured a blow-out. They have made a dead-zone for fish and other wildlife that extends 2,500 miles. They are currently pumping 2.3 million gallons a day of oil into the gulf, have failed to pay the thousands they put out of work, are doing shoddy work on the oil clean-up, and ruined a tourist season.

It is akin to claiming to help the nuclear power cause by authorizing more nuclear plants… while at the same time outlawwing the use of nuclear fuel. What are they supposed to use… Pixie dust?
