If you live in that area I suggest he write a resume of what skills that he has, put on some nice looking work clothes and boots and go and visit oilfield service companies, there are many around Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Beaumont. Often they will hire walk in applicants for roustabouts at companies like Nabors if they have a clean drug test and high school or GED. Good Luck.

Rigzone.com is a good place to start looking. And look up drilling contractors (the people that run the rigs, not the oil companies like Exxon and BP). A few to check out could be H&P, Nabors, Greywolf. If you live in far East Texas, there is a lot more money to be made offshore. TransOcean, Ensco, Nabors and H&P are examples of those companies. He needs to make up a resume, be drug free (they will test), and be dependable, on time, keep his mouth shut and ears open, and he can get into the field. But I have to wonder why his mom is doing this search instead of him. These companies are a lot more impressed with people that show some of their own initiative…

I don't have a problem with greed, but I do have a problem taxpayer-funded greed. Public union greed leads to abuse of taxpayer dollars and corrupt politicians.
If you want to be greedy, work in the private sector where no one has to subsidize your choices by force.
And yes, I do oppose corporate welfare and I do not applaud corporations pursuing it, although I understand it, like I do with unions. They're looking out for number one and our government bends over for the pleasure.
