well are you wanting to work on a rig or do you want to do time on and off boats for oil? They are two different things, and it is much more worth it to spend time on and off boats on different jobs within the company. I work for an offshore oil surveying company. You should look into it…. they get paid wonderfully, and get free time at home. I think that you should go to a bigger school, ya you probably wont walk on to their soccer team, but i could pretty much gaurentee you that you could play in a league around the school, or even intramural soccer. Don't comprimise your acedemics for a sport because whats the likelihood that you are going to turn pro? If you weren't awarded a scholarship, and aren't gaurenteed a spot on the team its more then likely you don't have the skill to turn pro in the long run.
