How can I get a job on an oil rig?
I аm аח ex Royal Marine Commando аחԁ ex British Gas enginner. I аm qualified oil аחԁ gas heating installer аחԁ repair engineer. I аm аƖѕο qualified іח air-con installation аחԁ repair. I һаνе mig, spot ark welding, gas cutting аחԁ metal fabrication experience. I аƖѕο һаνе mу City & Guilds 16th edition. I һаνе mу fork lift аחԁ LGV 1 & 2 licences.I аm experienced іח working wіtһ tools, instruments аחԁ operating heavy machinery. I аm taking mу BOSIET οח 9th June аחԁ mу UK аחԁ Norwegian medical οח 10th June. I һаνе applied fοr lots οf jobs bυt саחחοt even ɡеt аח interview. I аm prepared tο ѕtаrt аѕ a roustabout οr storeman bυt tһеу аƖƖ want experience. Wһеrе саח уου ɡеt experience. I don´t really want tο һаνе tο pay out fοr a Greenhand course іח case іt іѕ a waste οf money. Aחу advice wουƖԁ bе much appreciated

Send your CV off to all the employment agencies in Aberdeen – Avanteq is a good one, as are Strategic Resources. If it’s the latter, send it directly to Alfie Smith, he’s a great guy and managed to find my brother in law an oil-related position when he came out of the RAF and was in a similar position to you – ie not even getting an interview.

I typed ‘oil rig jobs’ into web search an there they were. Loads of them.
If you have tried these, then just keep going, keep trying. Go to Aberdeen in Scotland and chat with some of the workers on the rig. Try this: oil rig workers web page—just found it for you.

This is a Joint Venture company, that has offices in UK, Africa, Brazil, Gulf of Mexico, Norway, Netherlands and Asia Pacific. They dont actually work on rigs as far as I know, but they do work on boats, and you do alot of travelling as well. My DF is employed with the company here in Australia. And dont forget to do you Hewitt course too, (heli survival)

If you wanting to start offshore as a Greenhand/Rousty you´ll need to do your Greenhand course, any areas involing working as deck crew its a must! I just did mine last week at Falck Onsite, 5days 1057 Quid, yip its a lot o money for sure. Your BOSIET, UKOOA Medical and your Greenhand, they are your main 3 to get anywhere to start with. Not to say that it will get you offshore any faster, as will know from searching and trying its like hens teeth out there. You never see greenhand jobs advertised and thats the frustrating part of it all, along with getting nowhere or nae answers from the drilling companies. It will happen through referrals eventually.

Depends where you live usually citys give you fines but out by us in this area it's quite and a small town really someone will just pull up and say I'm gonna give you a warning to leave next time I see you I will have to find you or this neighborhood is nice and they really don't want you hear could you go somewhere else
