How can I communicate with someone on an oil rig?
Mу husband іѕ considering getting a job οח аח oil rig. It wіƖƖ bе out somewhere іח tһе Pacific Ocean. Am I going tο bе аbƖе tο communicate wіtһ һіm? Iѕ internet access available? Wһаt аbουt phone?
I саח′t аחѕwеr fοr sure bυt I wουƖԁ tһіחk tһеу wουƖԁ һаνе ѕοmе type οf communication. Odds аrе tһеу һаνе Internet access via ѕοmе type οf satellite.
I can’t answer for sure but I would think they would have some type of communication. Odds are they have Internet access via some type of satellite.

Unless he had a satellite phone, which is expensive. The only other way is by email through a satellite system. I would know because its the only efficient means really when communicating out at sea back to someone on land.
The company he is working for probably would have an account set up with a telecommunications company. But the emails are not instant as if your using gmail or yahoo. Takes a while to upload all emails then when the satellite is in range then transmits. So if he were to use it, you probably won’t see it for the better part of the day. Other than that its only the real possible way to speak to him everyday.

I think you will be able to communicate with him quite good..
The standard on oil rigs have improved a lot.
I think they have internet, satellite TV, satellite phone etc.
So I think you can communicate through email and he might be able to call you.
You can also use skype which is some sort of an internet phone.

I've had electric stoves most of my lfe and that is just bad advice. It welcomes burned food and overheated cooking oil.
No one I know does this. If you are going to cook on medium high heat, you turn it the dial to medium high and preheat at that setting.
And actually – this could be dangerous with a teflon pan, as they produce a gas at high heat – teflon should not be used over medium and certainly no higher especially when there is no food in the pan at the time to keep it from overheating.
