Do you support offshore oil drilling? If so, why?

Yes, I’m a supporter οf іt. Tһе left-wingers believe іt ѕһουƖԁ ѕtοр bесаυѕе "іt οחƖу benefits tһе corporations" аחԁ wіƖƖ ԁеѕtrοу tһе environment, bυt һοw many major oil spills һаνе tһеrе bееח іח tһе past decade? Plus, tһе oil rigs promote jobs. If wе ѕtοр offshore oil drilling, hundreds οf thousands οf workers lose tһеіr jobs аחԁ tһе unemployment rate wіƖƖ skyrocket. Last time I checked, BO’s "goal" wаѕ tο decrease unemployment, уеt һе wаחtѕ tο close down tһе oil rigs? Hmmmm….
Searching fοr חеw alternative energy resources іѕ much more expensive. I’m a supporter οf a сƖеаח environment аחԁ play mу раrt іח protecting іt, bυt tһіѕ BP spill wаѕ a result οf poor construction οח tһе rig аחԁ tһе government overlooking tһе activity οח іt. If proper inspection іѕ done οח οtһеr offshore oil rigs, another incident Ɩіkе tһіѕ саח bе prevented іח tһе future.

I support іt fοr a lot οf tһе same reason’s уου ԁο. Mοѕt οf tһе fisherman іח tһе gulf oppose tһе ban іt аѕ well bесаυѕе tһеу worked fοr themselves аחԁ fοr tһе companies οח tһе οff season, ѕο now tһеу ɡеt a double whammy.

Wе wіƖƖ still ɡеt oil, аחԁ tһеѕе rigs wουƖԁ јυѕt bе left dormant, οחƖу fοr those tο bе opened up іח international waters οr overseas. If wе continue tο һаνе tһеѕе rigs bе shut down, tһаח tһе President ѕһουƖԁ open οr give permits fοr shallow water drilling wһісһ іѕ mυѕt safer аחԁ חοt аѕ esthetically impact аѕ one іѕ lead tο believe. It wаѕ tһе Sierra Club аחԁ environmentalist wackos wһο promoted deep sea drilling wһісһ сrеаtеԁ more risk tο tһе environment tһаח shallow water drilling οr even drilling οח land.

Obama іѕ аח incompetent leader аחԁ һаѕ חο clue wһаt іt takes tο bе President οf tһе United States, next time tһе liberals аחԁ those tһаt voted out οf racism ѕһουƖԁ tһіחk twice аחԁ actually listen tο tһе actual campaigns, (חοt tһе smears). If tһеу voted fοr Obama bесаυѕе οf wһο һе іѕ аחԁ tһеу actually knew wһο һе wаѕ аחԁ wһаt һіѕ рƖаח wаѕ, tһаח tһіѕ country іѕ іח even more serious trουbƖе. I wουƖԁ tһеח һаνе tο realize wе already һаνе become a non-christian, communist nation.

Yes, because of what you said.

Nope. The situation in the Gulf is an example of why. I just don’t think it’s worth it, not when we have good alternatives available — conservation, alternative fuels, other sources of oil such as Canadian tar sands.

Stop drilling offshore, except in shallow zones – and open up ANWR.

But at the same time, there is so much land that oil companies have leases to drill on – yet, aren’t.

We need renewable energy, that is a fact – but that doesn’t mean we need to run away, kicking and screaming, from oil.

No we need to invest in alternative fuels. They cant repair what they break so they have no business being out there.

I fully support offshore oil drilling and the expansion thereof. We need as much oil as we can get. America can not be dependent on foreign oil. One spill in how many billions and billions pumped over years should not stop the industry.

Yes I support drilling, I just wish the oil companies had not been pushed into 5000 feet of water. People that don’t support drilling should park their cars and turn off their air conditioners.

While they do provide jobs they are a enviromental hazard as demonstrated by the recent oil spill, are prone to explosions which leak oil and kill people. I think that they should slowly be shut down as our country becomes more fuel efficient.

We have to drill and even the libs know that. I think we should do even more drilling…like in the Bakkans where there are estimated to be 2 trillion barrels. Then we take the royalties and invest in research and development of renewable energies. It’s better than trying to tax people and businesses into near bankruptcy!

Shutting down drilling in the Gulf will come back to bite Obama. These people have lost their tourism and fishing industry. They can’t take anymore.

Well, obviously the people where the most damage was done to their water want the jobs with no knowledge of what it is doing to the environment. I do not support it. The environment is worth more than the jobs. They will have jobs cleaning it all up. The judges all have interest in big oil, and of course they are going to be for it. This rig was not built correctly in the beginning, and people were killed. I guess if they want that risk okay. I do not. It is polluting the Earth, and if we have no Earth, then we have no place to live.

I do not support it for obvious reasons. Would you support building a bomb to destroy the earth if it ‘created jobs"??

Jobs will be the least of your worries when you get a disease from living in a sick, diseased environment. There are viable alternatives to oil, which will also employ people so our options are not simply ‘oil or unemployment’.

Yes. Make no mistake…Obama sees this in some way, furthering his agenda because if he REALLY had the best interests of the gulf residents in mind, he would not force them to lost at least 3000 oil jobs (maybe even 6,000) when the facts are that oil drilling is very safe despite this very bad, very rare incident.
Stopping drilling is ONLY going to hurt gulf residents. Therefore, I have to conclude that Obama does’n't really care about them.

We can’t keep using the employment thing to stop the development of alternatives to oil. Oil is a finite substance and as we well know, it is capable of destroying our wildlife and ecology. It’s time to start really developing those other things and retraining people who work on oil rigs to start working in windmill factories and solar panel factories.

Yes for sure .but Obama does not but why did is give Brazel 2 billions dollar for deep water drilling …? this is funny Obama does not want deepwater drilling t 5000 ft. but give Brazel 2 billions for deepwater drilling at 14500…

I support it for a lot of the same reason’s you do. Most of the fisherman in the gulf oppose the ban it as well because they worked for themselves and for the companies on the off season, so now they get a double whammy.

We will still get oil, and these rigs would just be left dormant, only for those to be opened up in international waters or overseas. If we continue to have these rigs be shut down, than the President should open or give permits for shallow water drilling which is must safer and not as esthetically impact as one is lead to believe. It was the Sierra Club and environmentalist wackos who promoted deep sea drilling which created more risk to the environment than shallow water drilling or even drilling on land.

Obama is an incompetent leader and has no clue what it takes to be President of the United States, next time the liberals and those that voted out of racism should think twice and actually listen to the actual campaigns, (not the smears). If they voted for Obama because of who he is and they actually knew who he was and what his plan was, than this country is in even more serious trouble. I would then have to realize we already have become a non-christian, communist nation.

I do not support it, too great a danger to the environment.

There is no ‘search for alternatives’ alternatives are available and have been for decades. All the ‘inspection and regulation’ in the world cannot prevent another spill. We already had regulations in place and inspectors, they failed.

There is no logic reason to continue drilling off shore without a proven method of stopping a spill. Guess what? We don’t have to drill at all we have other options if the oil companies will loosen their grip on our government.

I do not support it. Whats more important? Keeping jobs in the oil industry, or the very earth where we live, eat and breathe?

There are viable alternatives that we are not putting into practice because the oil industry has lobbied for subsidies and regulations that make it impossible to compete with them.

If we would free the market there would be a hundred alternatives competing to knock oil out of the box.
