]]> How would I go about getting one of these jobs and are they in demand? There are no oil rigs in my state (IA). I am 21 years old. Im at a crossroads in my life, not sure what to do. I’m a H.S graduate with no futher Edu. I do not really have any skills. So what does on do to get a job on an oil rig?

Check the websites of petroleum-related companies. They will have both jobs, and the requirements for the jobs. I’m not sure what the exact requirements are, but I’d guess "exceptional body strength" is more important than a high IQ.

I doubt it

I’m sure they use some lab techs and petrochemical engineers on them but I doubt someone with MS in chemistry.

Now, they do use those folks in great scads in R&D centers and refineries, I’m sure there would be places in those locations
